Although work life my not seem to alter much for individuals on a day-to-day basis, the workplace itself is constantly evolving to meet the needs and requirements of businesses.
An office 10 years ago will undoubtedly look unrecognisable to today’s workforce and with the rapid growth of technology, the scene in 10 years time will likely look dramatically different again, but how?
An infographic created by TalkTalk Business gives an insight into the world we could be working in, in 2025.
Step into an office in 2025…
Technology is thought to bring change to work life as we know it over the next decade. It is suggested that an average working day in 2025 could include, voice activated systems in the home, driverless cars will perform the morning commute, while smartglasses will link up to conference calls and notes and messages will be dictated to, and sent by a virtual assistant.
A survey, by TalkTalk Business reveals that 24% of respondents predict they will be participating in and attending virtual events and conferences. While 19% predict they will use Virtual Reality headsets to go on site visits to customers.
Of those asked, 66% stated they would be comfortable wearing a device to monitor their health at work, while 53% would be comfortable would be comfortable letting it monitor their productivity in work.
What will shape tomorrow’s workplace?
The 4IR
The first Industrial Revolution used water and steam power to mechanise production. The second used electric power for mass production. The third was known as the digital age and used electronics and information technology to automate production, and now, we stand on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally change the way we live and work. A Fourth Industrial Revolution is building. The 4IR is automation, when machines can take over entire repetitive processes through robotics, whether physical or software.
This has already began to shape the workforce, the nine to five culture is giving away to flexible working practices. The workforce is going to be dispersed, as people can work anywhere and any time they like.
