Is Medicinal Marijuana a Choice or a Necessity

Marijuana was long known as a recreational drug. From there, its status was elevated to “gateway drug”, with scientists suggesting that those who used marijuana recreationally were far more likely to move on to harder substances. Today, this continues to be a mainstream idea, but it is also known that cannabis has a number of strong medicinal properties and illnesses. This is why it is now so easy to find weed delivery in Los Angeles, because it is known that it can treat a variety of diseases and illnesses. At the same time, what makes it so special, is that it is extraordinarily safe, with far fewer, and much less dangerous, negative side effects than any pharmaceutical drug on the market today.

Cannabis can provide relief for various different conditions, including:

  • Withdrawal symptoms of opiate or alcohol dependency or addiction.
  • HIV/AIDS.
  • Lung cancer.
  • Brain cancer.
  • Chronic pain.
  • Appetite loss.
  • Muscle spasticity.
  • Muscle spasm.
  • Diabetes
  • Various forms of cancer.
  • Seizure disorders.
  • Glaucoma
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea

On a global level, scientists agree that cannabis is something that should be offered to various patients, not as an option, but as a necessity. In fact, people who suffer from chronic illnesses have indeed started to rely on the product, seeing it as the only effective method of treatment.

At the same time, marijuana is also a recreational drug. This is why only those with a medicinal marijuana card are able to access it. The vast majority of states in this country have now legalized marijuana at least for medicinal purposes, requiring users to register so that they can obtain their product. Without a medicinal marijuana card, using cannabis can still be seen as a legal offense, and people can – and have – face drug charges in relation to it.

What this means is that, if someone does require medicinal marijuana for health purposes, they must officially indicate so. They have to do this if they do not want to face legal consequences. Once you have your card, however, you will have full legal protection in the state that issues the card to you. That said, it isn’t always easy to obtain such a card. You usually have to receive a referral from a registered health professional, although the Hemp and Cannabis Foundation can help people make the process a bit easier. Your local county office will also be able to tell you what sort of information you have to supply in order to be eligible for a card.

Yes, obtaining a medicinal marijuana card can be a bit of a hassle. However, if you genuinely need one, then the hassle will be more than worth it. The fact that you will finally be able to get some relief from the discomfort and pain of whatever condition you have been suffering from, without having to worry about negative side effects and becoming resistant to the medication, is more than worth  dealing with the little bit of red tape you will have to go through in order to legally access the substance.
