Acne is something that just about everybody has to deal with at some point in their lives. It can not only be embarrassing to have a prominent blemish, but it can also be painful. It doesn’t even matter how old you are. Acne can strike when you are a teenager or even as an adult.
Getting rid of it can be quite harsh on your skin. SOme of the acne treatments are full of chemicals that leave your skin dry and itchy. Sometimes it can even be painful if you have sensitive skin.
Luckily, there are a lot of natural remedies to get rid of acne. They are more gentle on your skin and are just as effective as the leading brands that are full of harsh chemicals.
In this article, I will go over several natural remedies you should be using to get rid of acne.
1 – Essential oils
One of the most effective ways to get rid of acne is by using essential oils. Many of them contain natural antibacterial properties that will kill the bacteria responsible for acne.
After all, acne is an infection of sorts of a pore that gets full of bacteria. It multiplies and then becomes a blemish. If you kill the bacteria, you should be able to get rid of the acne.
Be careful with essential oils, however, as some of them can be as harsh as a chemical. Usually you blend them with a carrier oil to dilute the oil so it is more gentle while still being effective.
The best essential oils for acne that can be added to a carrier oil are tea tree oil, and rosemary oil. Tea tree oil is not good for sensitive skin as it has some strong menthol properties. When added to a carrier oil such as almond or argan, it is much more gentle and still will kill much of the bacteria.
2 – Honey mixture
Honey can be considered a miracle food for all of the things it can do. In fact, for centuries it has been used not just as a sweetener, but also as a medicine.
Since it is both an antibacterial and anti inflammatory, honey is ideal as a skin treatment when you have acne. You could simply use it as is on your face, but you can boost the effectiveness when you make a skin treatment mixture.
Mix honey, cinnamon and turmeric and you have a potent mask that will not only get rid of your acne, it will leave your skin smooth and protected from future breakouts.
3 – Apple cider vinegar
Vinegar makes a great disinfectant and can easily wipe out the bacteria that is causing your acne. When you use apple cider vinegar, your skin’s pH is rebalanced so it is less likely to break out again when you use it regularly.
It can be a bit harsh so make sure to dilute it with some water to not have any discomfort. You can apply it with cotton pads or even use a spritzer to spray it on your face.
