For many years I absolutely hated my smile, I was always the person at the back of the photographs with my mouth closed and I felt self conscious when even speaking to people. Two years ago I had had enough and I decided that I would go to my super dentist Dr. Kami Hoss and do something about my smile once and for all. I was pleased that when I sat down in my consultancy that there were many options before me in terms of improving my smile and it took me a while to decide which was the best option for me. Two years later I have a great smile and I wanted to talk you through the options available should you wish to improve your smile too.
Braces
Contrary to what you might think, teeth can still be moved about even as an adult and if you are prepared to have this done then braces or Invisalign are the options which you have to choose from. Braces are metal wires which are placed through brackets that are attached to your teeth, they are tailor-made by your dentist to your own teeth and the result which they are looking for. The braces can cause a little pain as your teeth move and of course, many may think that they are unsightly.
Invisalign
Invisalign is a relatively new treatment that works in the same way as braces do except they are completely invisible. The piece is like a gum shield which has been made in a way so that it can move your teeth into the right position. This is a great option for those who want the effects of braces without wearing the metal in their mouth and they have a very similar success rate. Invisalign is much more expensive than braces but aesthetically speaking it is the far better option.
Veneers
I opted to have porcelain veneers placed in my mouth to give myself the perfect smile that I had always wanted, it is quite an extreme procedure but one that I am definitely happy that I had done. Having veneers put in is also the most expensive option of the bunch but the after effects are by far and away better than the other two choices.
The process of having veneers put in involves shaving your existing teeth down and then placing porcelain fronts over the stubs of your own teeth. this is very much a permanent procedure and once it has been done, you will not be able to go back to having your own teeth. With that being said, you can tailor the veneers which you have put in so that you can get exactly the smile that you want. Porcelain veneers are very strong and they will not change what you can or cannot eat nor will you need to replace them in the future.
Have you had any of these treatments on your teeth? How did it go? Let us know in the comments section below this post.
